This started off with an interesting email prior to the 2016 PGA Merchandise Show.
It was an invitation to take on the Kentwool Challenge and experience what the company claims are the “World’s Best Golf Socks.”
Okay, that was plenty strong enough to get our attention, especially considering that a one-day trip to the PGA Merchandise Show involves walking at least five miles in eight hours around the expansive Orange County Convention Center over in Orlando.
Our selection came from the “Game Day” collection and I opted for the Navy Blue and Gold, taking me back to my growing-up years at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
On first examination, they looked good and felt even better. They are manufactured here in the good old U.S.A. in Pickens, S.C., to be exact, another reason to consider them. They are primarily super fine Merino wool with high-tech fibers added.
To make a long story short, after trudging the entire show, eight-hours in all and at least five miles not counting the forever walk from the parking lot to the convention center and back, these socks lived up to the promise.
If you are a walking golfer, you will seriously want to consider a pair of these socks. I flinched at the price point of $19.95 a pair, but not after trying them. A couple of pairs will do the trick and the “Game Day” selection offers some great looking colors from some of the most high-profile colleges.
In another “proof-is-in-the-pudding” testimonial, they are the official socks of the Tour Caddies Association. Those guys who carry those bags on the PGA Tour log about 50 miles walking every week. For them, these socks are heaven-sent, no doubt.
The company’s website tells us that Kevin Kisner, Ryan Moore, David Toms and Matt Kuchar wear them.
You can check them out for yourself at the company’s website:
Try a pair, you won’t be sorry.
