Damon Green and Zach Johnson’s caddie-player relationship goes all the way back to Johnson’s rookie year on the PGA Tour – 2004.
Two major championships and nine other PGA Tour titles later, it’s come to a shocking end, at least as far as Green is concerned.
Johnson played the well-worn “I think we need to take a break” card on this on.
Green put it more distinctly — “I just think he (Johnson) didn’t want to say the wore ‘fire.’ I was shocked.”
Thus one of the oldest pairings is now finished, a run of nearly 15 years.
Speculation is that Johnson will hire Brett Waldman, who has worked with Charley Hoffman in the past.
As for Green, don’t be surprised if he gets several calls from players looking for an experienced, accomplished looper.

Louis Oosthuizen Wins South African Open — Finally!
Louis Oosthuizen won the 2010 Open Championship but there was another “Open” that he dearly wanted to win.
It is the South African Open and he took the title easily on Sunday in Johannesburg.
Oosthuizen, who opened with a blazing 62 last Thursday at the Rand Park Golf Club, closed with 67 on Sunday and made it a six-shot runaway win.
He finished 18-under par, easily putting distance between himself and runnerup Romain Langasque of France. Oosthuizen got off to a nervous start with bogeys at the second and third hole but he birdied four of the final six to finish the front nine and put it in cruise control.
He was elated afterward:
“I knew today was either going to be very special or heartbreaking. I know there’s only a few that have won The Open and the SA Open so I’m very chuffed to have my name on this. We had a tough start today and my caddie just told me, ‘you’re swinging it well, just go for it’. I just got back to basics, to try and hit fairways and greens. I know I’m putting well, I just needed to give myself putting opportunities for birdie. This feels very special. This is perfect.”

Andrew “Beef” Johnson is a popular guy on the European Tour and the bearded Brit got engaged last week in Barbados.
Evidently “Beef” was vacationing there with girlfriend Jodie Valencie and Beef popped the question.
No date has been set yet but we’re wondering if Arby’s will be catering the wedding?
