David Lipskey had a pretty rough season on the European Tour in 2018. He finished outside the top 100 in the Race To Dubai and figured he’d have to struggle to keep his playing card in 2019.
That all changed on Sunday at the Leopard Creek Country Club when Lipskey overcame a late double-bogey to win the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
Lipskey had built a comfortable five shot lead after a birdie on the 10th hole but saw his lead trimmed to just one shot after he took a double-bogey five at the par-three 16th. After making par at the 17th, all he needed was par at the 72nd hole but he hit the par five in two and calmly two-putted for a closing 68 and a winning 14-under par total, two clear of Scotland’s David Drysdale.
“It’s indescribable actually,” he said. “Winning is what we all hope to do, it’s what we practice for, it’s what we all put the time in for – the blood, sweat and tears. This was a tough year for me. I haven’t played that well and have really struggled. To cap it off with a win at the end of the year is so special and I’m really looking forward to big things in 2019.”
The win was Lipskey’s second triumph in Europe. He captured the European Masters in 2014.

Damon Green Has A New Bag For 2019:
Zach Johnson fired his long-time caddie Damon Green last week.
It didn’t take long for Green to find a new bag for the 2019 season.
Green, who was caddying for Matt Kuchar’s dad in the PNC Father-Son Challenge in Orlando, revealed that he’ll be looping for Ollie Schneiderjans on tour this coming season.
Call it coincidence, but, like Kuchar, Schneiderjans played his college golf at Georgia Tech.
