If Bubba Watson is going to shoot 25-under par in Thailand, he’d better get going.
Watson found himself eight shots off the first round lead as Jamie Donaldson had all the answers during the first round of the Thailand Golf Championship on Thursday.
Donaldson fashioned a nine-under par 63 at the Amata Spring Country Club and is three ahead of last week’s winner in Vietnam — Sergio Garcia.
“I played really good all day and I couldn’t really do anything wrong,” Donaldson said after making nine birdies on the day.
Watson fared well on the par fives — he birdied all of them but played the rest of the holes three-over par and finished with a 71 that left him tied for 33rd.
Garcia’s good play last week stayed with him and his 66 put him in second with two players from the host country — Chinnarat Phadungsil and Chanat Sakulpolpaisan.
