Donald Trump has become a major player in the world of golf.
Trump has become the poster-guy for controversy during his campaign to become the most powerful man in the free world — the President of the United States.
Trump pulls no punches, he offers no apologies and he’s totally unfiltered.
That approach has thrown the Republican ranks into turmoil but behind the scenes, there are business relationships that are crumbling as well.
DAMAC Properties is the driving force behind a $6 billion development in Dubai. Yes, you read that right, $6 billion. A Trump Brand golf course was going to be a focal point of the development but there has been fallout after Trump’s stance on Muslim travel in and out of the United States.
Caught in that whirlwind, DAMAC at first stood with Trump but now has dropped the brand from its development.
It’s not the only move by a Middle East-based company to cut ties with Trump. A home décor company, Lifestyle, has dropped Trump-branded products.
How much does all of this hurt Donald Trump in his very, very fat pocket-book?
Probably not all that much in the grand scheme of things.
But there are storms brewing on other golf fronts as well.
Stay tuned.
