Jordan Spieth spent 12 hours at the Sentosa Golf Club on Saturday and is facing another long day Sunday at the Singapore Open.
Rain has forced the tournament into the old “catchup” mode as the field finished the second round early Saturday then went out for round three, which was also cut short due to darkness.
Spieth will also be in the “catchup” mode when he goes back out to face a six-foot par putt at the 17th hole Sunday then he’ll play 18 and hope that the leader, Younghan Song of South Korea, doesn’t make too many birdies over his final five holes.
Song, after shooting 63 in the second round, is the leader at nine-under par with five holes left to play in his third round. Like Spieth, he hasn’t had much going as he’s even par through 13 holes.
Spieth shot 70 in his second round, one-under. He’s six-under and needs that crucial putt to start the day on Sunday to stay within sniffing distance of the leader. Spieth then needs to birdie the par five 18th if he hopes to make a run for the title on Sunday.
