Our question for Jordan Spieth:
Are you better than a college golfer?
The answer last week was a resounding “NO.”
The next question is: Who is Charlie Danielson?
Danielson is a senior at the University of Illinois and he earned a spot in the Northern Trust Open last week and he did himself proud.
All the kid did was shoot 67-72 for the first two rounds. He was three-under par and made the 36-hole cut easily.
In the process, he totally dusted Spieth, the world’s No. 1 player.
Wouldn’t it be great to head back to school and casually mention: “Jordan Spieth? Yeah, beat him by five.”
That’s what Danielson did. He was three-under, Spieth was five-over after two trips around Riviera last week.
Danielson shot 73 in the third round but when things got tough the final 18, shot 77. He finished five-over for the week, but still came away with a good performance on one of the country’s tougher golf courses.
So when you ask the question:
“Is Jordan Spieth better than a college golfer?”
The truth is that last week, no, he wasn’t.
