Blowout.
Super blowout.
Martin Kaymer never knew what hit him Thursday at the WGC Match Play especially when you consider that he came out and birdied the first hole to go 1-up in his day two match with Zach Johnson.
Then the roof fell in immediately on the German star.
Johnson won the next four holes, six of the next seven and would go on to crush Kaymer, 8&6. It ended on the 12th green with Kaymer surrendering before he managed to get his ball on the green.
“I’m speechless,” said Johnson, who scored one of the most lopsided wins in the history of the event. “I played well. I feel a little bad for him,” he said, after getting win No. 2, setting him up for a good shot at the round of 16 this weekend.
“Different wind, different clubs today,” Johnson said of the strong breezes that switched directions from Wednesday.
Johnson, who was six-under on Wednesday in his 4&3 victory over Marcus Fraser, went four-under through the 12 holes he played on Thursday.
