There are a lot of ways to shoot 68.
Going 29-39 is one you don’t see often if at all.
That’s what Danny Willett came up with Friday at the European PGA Championship on his way to grabbing a share of the halfway lead at Wentworth.
Willett had six birdies over his first nine holes and stayed six under through 14. He then suffered three straight bogeys before finishing the day with a birdie at the 18.
“Not quite the back nine we were hoping for,” Willett said in a major understatement. But he was happy with his birdie at the 18th and will have that good ending to carry him to the weekend.
He will start the third round tied with Scott Hend and 2009 PGA Champion Y.E. Yang.
South Africa’s Jaco Van Zyl is a shot back at nine-under par.
