There’s another old-guy major championship this week, the Senior Players and the medicare set got beat up pretty good on day one at the Cricket Club.
Jay Don Blake is the leader and he shot a two-under par 68. Brandt Jobe, Jeff Sluman, Bart Bryant and Vijay Singh were a shot back at 69 and those five players are the only men who managed to break par.
The star of the seniors, Bernhard Langer, came in with 71 as did the ageless Tom Watson. Colin Montgomerie scratched out and even par round of 70.
So what happened to John Daly? He took a beating and opened with 76.
