It was easy to see this one coming.
Early Tuesday, Jason Day announced that he will not compete for Australia in the upcoming Olympics Games in Rio.
“The sole reason for my decision is my concerns about possible transmission of the Zika virus and the potential risks it may present to my wife’s future pregnancies and to future members of our family.”
So read Day’s statement in part. It began: “It is with deep regret I announce that I will be be participating in the 2016 Olympic Games…..”
It was an easy call for the world’s No. 1 player. He has two young children and has expressed that he and wife Ellie are planning on having more.
Though game officials down in Rio are trying to downplay the risks, Day and other high profile players have decided that it just isn’t worth the risk.
Day would have been a solid contender to win the Golf medal in golf.
His withdrawal leaves only Jordan Spieth still in the running as two of the world’s top three players won’t be in Rio. Earlier, Rory McIlroy announced that he won’t compete.
The dominoes are falling.

the Olympics for golf are a complete joke. They didn’t even come up with a unique format. Jordan play in the John Deere, please.

I’d rather watch swimmers and track and field athletes, golf can be very boring at times and without your top guys, who cares?
