Miram Lee cooled off substantially Friday at the Women’s British Open but after two days at the Woburn Golf Club, she’s still the leader.
After her opening 62, she could do not better than a one-under par 71 but she’s still 11-under at the halfway mark and a shot in front of Ariya Jutanugarn and Shanshan Feng.
Feng, who nearly missed her Thursday tee time, shot 68 and is 10-under. “I forgot to calculate the time it took to get rides from the clubhouse, to the range, then to the putting green. I ended up running 50 or 60 yards to the first tee and I don’t run. I announced “I’m here” but I made it in time,” Feng recounted.
Jutanugarn continued her steady play and added 69 to her opening 65.
Veteran Catriona Matthew had the day’s best round — 65 — and it moved her to nine-under going into the weekend.
Mo Martin, who won the title in 2014, got herself into contention with a pair of 68s that left her only three off the pace.
Fellow American Stacy Lewis was in at seven-under after a round of 70.
Lexi Thompson was six back but her 67 created some momentum for the weekend as she’s at five-under.
Lydia Ko bounced back from her Thursday troubles with a two-under par 70 that got her back to even par and in the field for the weekend.
The 36-hole cut came at one-over.
