Deep down inside, Johnny Miller is totally pissed off.
But he won’t say it publicly.
You see, Johnny Miller is the official, unofficial host of this week’s Safeway Championship.
It is being played at a club he owns in Napa — Silverado.
Excitement was reaching a fever pitch after Tiger Woods finally, officially committed to the event late last Friday.
Then Woods pulled the rug out from under Miller, Silverado, the Safeway folks and everyone else who was excited to watch his comeback this week.
Woods pulled the big “WD.”
“It is a huge impact on our tournament,” Miller admitted on Monday after learning that Woods would not play. “Everybody was so excited in the golf world and here in Northern California.”
Now, the tournament is in the midst of a huge letdown.
Can Phil Mickelson save the day?
