The Europeans are not happy about losing the Ryder Cup.
Hard loss, they were buried by the Americans, 17-11 earlier this month.
Paris and 2018 seems a time away but look for the European captain to be named sometime before Christmas.
“We’ll be appointing a new skipper, probably this side of Christmas. We are very disappointed to have lost the Ryder Cup,” said 2014 European captain Paul McGinley.
McGinley will be part of the committee that picks the new European leader for 2018 along with this year’s captain — Darren Clarke and former captain Jose Marie Olazabal. European Tour CEO Keith Pelley is part of it along with a player’s rep and that likely will be Henrik Stenson.
No task force, just six men charged with the selection that could choose with Thomas Bjorn or Padraig Harrington. Both were assistant captains to Clarke this year and are the two names popping up as possible successor to Clarke.
Stay tuned.

Harrington might still have a chance to play. by the way, this was the easiest ryder cup to predict–i had it 18-10, off by 1–because they had too many rooks–its no event to have 1/2 your entire roster having never experienced that type of pressure especially in the U.S.–maybe not so tough if it was played in europe. so task farce(not misspelled) or not this was cake.
next time in france why not have our carnoustie disaster guy be the captain? the crowd will be in a frenzy beyond belief–go Jean.

Bob, I think you and I have a better chance at being named European captain than Jean van de Velde……they might make him an assistant just because…..yes, it was our turn to win, finally, as bad as the European rookies were except for Thomas Pieters, look how pathetic Westwood was…..his last RC.

I, of course was uttering a tongue in cheek thought about Jean as captain. yest westy was awful–but he was awful going in—the euros must change the way they choose players because casey and knox should have been on the team–i know clarke passed on knox but the fact that these two have eschewed the euro tour has hurt the team–casey the best case of all–so i look for them to liberilize their picking system next time. should be interesting—stay tuned
