The LPGA season comes to a grand finale this week in a great place — Naples, Fl.
Back in the good old USA, this will settle the season-long battle between Lydia Ko and Ariya Jutanugarn, No. 1 vs. No. 2 for Player of the Year and all that good stuff.
The ladies will play once again at Tiburon Golf Club for the CME Group Tour Championship, 21 of the top 25 present and accounted for.
The forgotten player coming in is defending champion Cristie Kerr. Forgotten because basically the entire contingent of women players from the United States have been missing in action this year.
Americans have won a whopping two events, one by Lexie Thompson, the U.S. Open, a major, by Brittany Lang.
Other than that, our girls have been skunked on the LPGA Tour this season.
Last year it was Kerr winning by a shot over Gerina Piller, America’s favorite runnerup.
Coming in, the top three in the points race are Jutanugarn, Ko and In Gee Chun.
Jutanugarn has five victories this season and would be the first player to win six times in a year since Inbee Park back in 2013.
Let the games begin.
