There was no winner at the RSM Classic Sunday at Sea Island.
Darkness and a five-man playoff saw to that.
After a day-long battle, at the end of 72 holes, five players finished at 17-under par, including wire-to-wire leader Mackenzie Hughes.
Hughes played the final 18 in a threesome with veterans Camilo Villegas and Billy Horschel, who have seven wins between them. Horschel was the 2014 FedEx Cup champion but hasn’t won since then.
All three in the final group posted 17-under.
Right ahead of them, Blayne Barber and Henrik Norland made it to 17-under.
On the first playoff hole, it looked like five routine pars until Horschel missed his par putt from inside three feet and was eliminated from the competition.
It looked like it would end on the second playoff hole after Villegas, Barber and Norland missed lengthy birdie putts and left Hughes staring at a 10-footer to win with darkness taking over.
Hughes, whose putter carried him through the tournament, missed on the left edge, ending play on Sunday.
The four will gather Monday morning to decide the championship.
