In 2016, Lydia Ko fired everyone.
She got rid of her caddie.
Got rid of her coach, David Leadbetter.
Said adio to her equipment company — Callaway.
Ko, still ranked No. 1 in the Rolex Rankings, will start her 2017 campaign as a member of the budding Parsons Extreme Golf staff.
Parsons Extreme is the new entry into the club market with those ultra-expensive sticks. They retail for around $5,000 a set.
Ko’s signing makes her the most high-profile player using clubs from the company started by Go-Daddy.com founder and billionaire Bob Parsons.
Parsons has been more successful signing LPGA players. One simple reason is that it costs a lot less to get them on staff.
Ko joins Cristie Kerr, Brittany Lang, Gerina Piller, Beatriz Recari, Sadena Parks and Alison Lee. Newcomers to Parsons with Ko are Christina Kim and Ryann O’ Toole.
