Everyone scores at the Canadian Open.
That’s what it looked like Saturday at Glenn Abbey as birdies ran amuck north of the border.
After a day of low scores, Charley Hoffman emerged as the 54-hole leader at a whopping 17-under par. Hoffman’s 65 gave him a one-shot lead over Kevin Chappell who finished with 66.
No one went as low as Robert Garrigus. Garrigus had a career-low round of 62 that tied the course and tournament record. His best shot on a day of great shots came at the par five 16th where he hit a four-iron within three feet for his second eagle of the round. Four birdies and an eagle on the front nine saw him turn in 29.
Garrigus posted 15-under early in the day and Gary Woodland joined him later after he shot 68.
Dustin Johnson looked like he wanted in on the act after he shot five-under par over his first nine holes but he found trouble on his final nine holes with a double-bogey at the 11th and a bogey at 17 that dropped him back to four-under for the day and left him in a tie for 16th at 12-under par.
