Michelle Wie wasn’t feeling so hot before last Sunday’s final round of the Canadian Pacific Championship.
She felt bad enough to withdraw even though she was four-under par and just six off the lead.
Good call.
What she experienced was an attack of appendicitis and it was serious enough to rush her to the hospital up there in Ottawa where she underwent an appendectomy that afternoon.
She’s going to be out of action for a while and it would be a stretch if she was able to compete in the season’s final major — The Evian.
Wie was all smiles afterward, thanks the docs, nurses and all the hospital staff.
She has had a litany of injuries but this surgery will require some time for her to return.
“I’ll be back when my doctors clear me,” she said.
She was expected to be released this week to head home.
