Meanwhile over in Europe………
The Race To Dubai is in the homestretch, just three events left including this week’s Turkish Airlines Open.
After this week’s stop at the Regnum Carya Golf Resort, it’s on to the Nedbank at Sun City then the grand finale at the DP World in Dubai.
But first things first at the Turkish resort in Antalya.
Justin Rose made a huge move in the Race To Dubai points last week with his win at the HSBC. He’s now third behind points leader Tommy Fleetwood and second place Sergio Garcia. Garcia is not playing this week but Rose was paired with Fleetwood and Henrik Stenson. Rose opened with a two-under par 68, Fleetwood shot even par 71 while Stenson’s 73 left him high man in the featured threesome.
They were all looking up at the lead trio of Nicolas Colsaerts, Joost Luiten and Haydn Porteus. They were tied at the top with seven-under par 64s on the scenic, tree-lined layout.
Familiar names near the top included Paddy Harrington at six-under, Ian Poulter at five-under and Tyrrell Hatton in with a four-under par 67.
