Hard to imagine that folks would want to dress like Bill Murray — yes, THAT Bill Murray (aka Carl Spakler in Caddyshack). But Murray and his brothers own William Murray Golf and apparently the Doobie Brothers are not happy that said company has used one of their songs in a commercial for their apparel.
Murray and his company have received the “cease and desist” letter from the barrister representing the Doobie Brothers. Said barrister, Peter Paterno, has threatened legal action for the use of the Doobie Brothers song “Listen To The Music” in a commercial without permission (or compensation) from the band.
The letter was sent to Murray and William Murray Golf from the office of King, Holmes, Paterno and Soriano LLP. And yes, it’s very real. You can read it in full below.
The Murray brand of clothes is, well, different, to say the least.
Apparently barrister Paterno is a Caddyshack fan, part of the letter to Murray read:
“This is the part where I’m supposed to cite the United States Copyright Act, excoriate you for not complying with some subparagraph that I’m too lazy to look up and threaten you with eternal damnation for doing so. But you already earned that with those Garfield movies.”
Typically in these cases, there will be some sort of “settlement.”

It’s Now Official: Jon Rahm Signs Contract With Callaway:
Callaway Golf has now confirmed what everyone suspected late last year — Jon Rahm will be playing the equipment starting at this week’s Tournament of Champions.
Rahm was noticeably absent from TaylorMade’s Christmas greeting, leading to speculation that he’d have new stuff for the new year. He has signed a multi-year deal with Callaway.
Rahm will play the Chrome Soft X ball, switch to an Odyssey putter and play the Mavrik line of clubs. He will also be sporting new clothes from Travis Matthew.
In a Callaway PR statement Rahm said:
“I have confidence in my new Callaway clubs – and especially the golf ball, which has really impressed me during the testing process.”
According to Callaway, Rahm recently shot a course-record 59 at Silverleaf Country Club, his home course in Scottsdale, Arizona.
