Peter Uihlein played in European then the PGA Tour but is now back on the Korn Ferry Tour and he grabbed a share of the lead Thursday at the Louisiana Open.
Uihlein, son of former Acushnet chairman Wally Uihlein, shot a four-under par 67 at Le Triomphe Country Club and was tied with Harrison Endycett and Max Gryserman.
Windy conditions made scoring tough on the par 71 layout, that has five, par five holes.
Kevin Roy, son of former PGA Tour player Jim Roy, was two shots off the pace with a first-round 69.
Samooja Early 36-Hole Leader At Magical Kenya Open:
Benjamin Hebert from France was the first round leader after shooting a seven-under par 64 at the Magical Kenya Open but he cooled off substantially on Friday. His even par round of 72 at the Karen Country Club opened the door for Kalle Samooja from Finland to shoot up the scoreboard.
Samooja’s 66 on day two put him in the clubhouse with an 11-under par total, a shot better than Scotland’s Syme Connor, who has rounds of 65-67 in the books.
American Kurt Kitayama (67-66) was tied at nine-under par with another Scot — Calum Hill (65-68).
