Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele are seemingly unstoppable at the Zurich Classic.
They shot a record 59 on Thursday, set the tournament’s 36-hole mark on Friday and right on schedule — they set the 54-hole scoring mark on Saturday.
All they did was birdie eight of the nine holes on the back nine at TPC Louisiana to end the day with a 12-under par 60 that got them to a staggering 29-under par, five shots better than their closest competition.
The Ryder Cup teammates are firing on all cylinders. They were never in any sort of trouble all day Saturday and on every hole coming home, both had looks at birdie.
Their third round 60 was also the low score of the day.
South Africans Branden Grace and Garrick Higgo were closest to the but a distance five back at 24-under par after combining for 63.
With winds expected to blow harder on Sunday, Cantlay and Schauffele will be very difficult to catch. Five shots is a huge lead in alternate shot format, which the teams will play on Sunday.
