So we now know that The Lamest Commissioner’s (aka Greg Norman, aka Snarky, aka The Great White Fish Stick) legal strategies last Tuesday were something akin to Custer’s hunt for a small band of Sioux warriors, something in the complaint filed really stood out and that was section 159:
159. The Masters. Augusta National, the promoter of The Masters, has taken multiple actions to indicate its alignment with the PGA Tour, thus seeding doubt among top professional golfers whether they would be banned from future Masters Tournaments. As an initial matter, the links between the PGA Tour and Augusta National run deep. The actions by Augusta National indicate that the PGA Tour has used these channels to pressure Augusta National to do its bidding. For example, in February, 2022 Augusta National representatives threatened to disinvite players from The Masters if they joined LIV Golf. In addition, Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley personally instructed a number of participants in the 2022 Masters not to play in the LIV Golf Invitational Series. Plainly, these threats to top players served no beneficial purpose, as they would only serve to weaken the field in the Masters.
From the look of that section it seems that The Lamest Commissioner is desperate to draw the all-powerful Augusta National Golf Club into a legal battle. Now that would be a HUGE MISTAKE by The Lamest Commissioner. In particular, drawing ANGC Chairman Fred Ridley into the fray would be a mistake of biblical proportions by the LIV.
The Tuesday filing complained how Chairman Ridley declined to meet with The Lamest Commissioner — like Fred has nothing better to do the week of The Masters. Considering that the membership makeup of the Augusta National Golf Club boasts some of the wealthiest, most powerful folks in America, well, common sense would dictate that The Lamest Commissioner forget about picking a fight with ANGC.
Just remember, ALL Masters invites are exactly that — even for past champions.
David Feherty Says What LIV Defectors Won’t Say:
A long-time friend of DogLegNews was in attendance at a charity function in Toledo recently and Gary Koch from NBC was on hand as was new LIV hire David Feherty.
There was a question and answer session and of course Feherty was asked about his move to LIV — and someone finally told the truth.
“Money,” Feherty told the audience. “People don’t talk about it. I hear, ‘well, it’s to grow the game.’ Bullshit! They paid me a lot of money.”
Thank you to The Prince Of Pundits.
Speaking Of LIV Confusion…..
Seems the LIV COO is now saying their attorney had it all wrong on Tuesday when he presented in court that players earnings are deducted from their upfront fees.
Atul Khosla says it is all a misunderstanding and the prize money is separate from the lucrative, multi-year contracts the players have signed.
“That’s all there is to it,” he said.
Something about LIV, no one can get their facts straight — did they hired an incompetent attorney? Sounds like Khosla is implying such.
Speaking of lame, that basically describes Greg Norman’s response to the Tuesday court ruling:
“We’re disappointed that Talor Gooch, Hudson Swafford and Matt Jones won’t be allowed to play golf. No one gains by banning golfers from playing.”
Lame, very lame.
ISPS Handa World Invitationial:
The DP World Tour and LPGA and LET Tours are all together in Northern Ireland with both alternating on two courses — Galgorm Castle and Massereene Golf Club.
Amanda Doherty from the U.S. had the day one lead for the ladies with a six-under par 67 at Galgorm Castle. Georgia Hall and Leona Maguire were a shot behind he with five-under par 68s.
One the men’s side, Scotland’s Ewen Ferguson was four shots clear of his closest competition after shooting a nine-under par 61 at Galgorm Castle.
Jon and Kelly Rahm Welcome Their Second Child:
Jon and Kelly Rahm are now the parents of two young boys. Jon took to his Twitter account to make the announcement:
“Eneko Cahill Rahm born on August 5th, feeling grateful for another healthy boy! Kelley, Eneko and big brother Kepa are all doing great. We have had an amazing last few days soaking in these amazing moments as a family of four. Now time for the playoffs!”

I’m not even touching that first story.
David has learned the one and only message the established golf media want to hear from LIv people: money.
David knows if he says anything else he has to deal with two months worth of articles calling him not credible or not honest or whatever.
But listening to David’s first broadcast with LIv, he mentions quite a few things he seems to prefer over his old job: more live golf, being able to be himself and say what he wants more, the team concept, to name a few.
I love this joint tournament concept for men and women. I just wish they had team components. They can have two men teams, two women teams, co Ed, and maybe even teams of 4 using team pods of 2 men and two ladies. So There could be 6 competitions going on simultaneously. But at least 1 of 2 more competitions designed to really bring the men and women together would be nice. Just a thought.
Congrats to the Rahms.
