Brandel Chamblee chirps with regularity on The Golf Channel while Gary Koch provides the steady voice of reason on the NBC golf crews.
Both will get to tee it up this week in the Senior Open, at The Old Course, St. Andrews.
Chamblee and Koch took the tough route — they Monday qualified over in Scotland — Chamblee at Scotscraig, Koch at Lundin. Both shared medalist honors — Chamblee with a two-under par 69, Koch with 68.
Bernhard Langer would figure to be the favorite this week at the Home Of Golf. He was the only member of the over-50 set to make the cut at Carnoustie and his rounds of 73-71-68-71 earned him a tie for 24th at one-under par. Langer, who will turn 61 next month, tied Tiger Woods’ final round effort on Sunday in the difficult conditions.
