Erik Compton’s season came to a sad end Thursday when he was forced to withdraw from the Barclays Championship.
Compton, the double heart transplant recipient, has been suffering from a bad case of the gout as well as a respiratory infection. The combination forced him to withdraw last week at the Wyndham when he woke up on Saturday and couldn’t walk.
“On the course today, it’s like, man, I can’t do this. I would have hated to make the playoffs and not show up,” Compton lamented.
Compton immediately flew home to Miami to see his doctor and begin treatments to try and regain his health for the fall start of the 2016 season.
