Okay, the truth hurts but the truth is still the truth.
There has been only one American winner on the LPGA Tour this season.
Correct, just one and that is Lexi Thompson. She captured the Honda Thailand on Feb. 28 which means no American has won in the United States this year.
And you wonder why interest is waning?
This week’s second major championship of the season is another chance for the U.S. girls to step up and do something but you wonder if they’re really up to the challenge?
The Women’s PGA Championship will be staged in Washington state at Sahalee and sorry, but it looks like Lexi is the only American with a chance.
The world’s No. 1 — Lydia Ko — is looking for her THIRD STRAIGHT win in a major. She captured the Evian at the end of the 2015 season and won this year’s first major at the ANA. He biggest challenge may come from Thailand in the form of Ariya Jutanugarn. Jutanugarn has won the last three events that she played. She took last week off and Anna Nordqvist stepped into the winner’s circle at the ShopRite.
The challenge is there and so far this year, the U.S. women haven’t stepped up and you wonder if they will this week?
Stay tuned.
