No one raises an eyebrow when a South Korean golfer is leading an LPGA event.
That’s the case once again in Ottawa where In Gee Chun has the 36-hole lead at the Canadian Pacific Championship but there five Americans trying to chase her down going into the weekend.
Mighty Mo Martin matched a 67 by the leader on Friday and she’s two shots back of Chun’s leading eight-under par total. Martin has plenty of fellow Americans to keep her company. Brittany Lincicome (68-68) and first round leader Marina Alex (66-70) are there with her.
Stacy Lewis (69-68) and Cristie Kerr (70-67) are in at five-under but the playing who presents the biggest threat over the final 36-hole is world’s No. 1 So Yeon Ryu (69-68).
Hometown favorite Brooke Henderson, a member of the host Ottawa Golf and Hunt Club, was in danger of missing the cut after opening with a 74 but she rallied, shot 69 on Friday and made the cut on the number at one-over par.
