Yang ended it, sort of, by the third round, she shot 66-67-65 and was running away with things.
The toughest thing for her was battling the rain, which was the dominant player over there. In the end, it was dry enough for Yang to finish with 67 at the Siam Golf Club for a record-setting win.
She shot 22-under, five better than runner-up So Yeon Ryu and it was a one-two-three finish for South Korean players.
America’s best — Lexi Thompson, jumped up and got herself a tie for fourth at 13-under. In the ongoing battle for No. 1, incumbent Lydia Ko fought to a standoff with No. 2 Ariya Jutanugarn as both finished in a tie for eighth at 11-under.
This was Yang’s third LPGA win, her second at this event where she’s gone win, T-three, win over the last three seasons.
“Very happy, beyond happy,” Yang said after hoisting the trophy.
