Ariya Jutanugarn could have jumped into the No. 1 ranking in women’s golf at the year’s first major but she didn’t win the ANA Inspiration.
This week, with the women’s competing in Hawaii at the Lotte Championship, Jutanugarn looks like she might do it this week.
After opening with rounds of 69-66, she’s tied for the 36-hole lead at nine-under par while Ko is far back in the field with rounds of 73-69 that have left her at two-under par and tied for 40th.
This potential change at the top has been coming, it’s just a matter of time.
Ko has been in a slump after going through swing changes, equipment changes, caddie changes and coaching changes. Basically, she’s changed everything. So far, her results have been mixed at best.
A win by Jutanugarn on Saturday could do it.
Stay tuned.
