You’ll recall that Ariya Jutanugarn simply wants to have fun on the golf course.
Her characteristic smile was missing two weeks ago when a knee injury forced her out of the Olympic competition during the third round in Rio.
Suffice to say she’s just fine.
Her smiles returned this week in Canada where she collected her fifth victory of the season. She pretty much stomped on the rest of the field and shot 23-under par and now leads the LPGA in wins this season.
“I wanted to have fun and be happy on the course,” Jutanugarn said on Sunday after shooting rounds of 68-64-67 then 66 in the final round. “No matter what’s going to happen, I can handle it. I feel really happy with myself right now.”
She should, her closest competition came from Sei Young Kim shot shot 19 under and finished solo second.
World’s No. 1 Lydia Ko might start looking over her shoulder as Jutanugarn is second and climbing. Ko shot 13-under par and finished in a tie for seventh.
