Bill Haas is fortunate to be alive.
The PGA Tour star was seriously injured Tuesday night at Pacific Palisades in a horrific car accident.
According to reports, Haas was the passenger in a Ferrari that collided with a BMW, the driver of the Ferrari was identified as 71-year-old Mark Gibello who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Before it collided with the BMW, the Ferrari clipped a Toyota SUV that actor Luke Wilson was riding in.
Haas and the driver of the BMW were transported to a nearby hospital. Haas was treated and later released from the hospital. The female driver of the BMW had more serious injuries.
The accident occurred at 6:31 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, not far from Riviera Country Club where Haas was scheduled to compete in the Genesis Open starting Thursday.
The deceased Gibello was close friends with Haas’ swing coach, Billy Harmon and was involved in bringing the 2017 Walker Cup and 2023 U.S. Open to Los Angeles Country Club, where he was a member. Haas was spending the week at Gibello’s house guest.
