There were some serious happenings in Hawaii last week thanks to the “false alarm” missile launch panic.
The PGA Tour in general and Blayne Barber in particular were hit with bad news after the second round of the Sony Classic.
Barber’s caddie — Corey Gilmore — suffered a serious head trauma Friday evening when he collapsed and fell from a high seat at a local restaurant.
Gilmore was hospitalized and placed in intensive care. He suffered brain swelling and dangerous bleeding internally.
To make matters worse, Barber was on his way to the hospital Saturday morning when the “false alarm” was sounded.
Today, Gilmore is still in the hospital, his condition remains serious — he is unconscious and unresponsive.
Gilmore’s parents flew to Hawaii to be by their son’s side. Meanwhile, Barber flew back to the mainland to play in this week’s PGA Tour event — The CareerBuilder — figuring there was nothing else he could do for his friend and caddie.
Doctors are trying to get the swelling and bleeding in Gilmore’s brain under control.
