With the LIV exhibition/circus series set to start its second season next week in Mexico, writer Alan Shipnuck, who authored the article where Phil Mickelson referred to the Saudis as: “scary mother-fuckers” has some new rumblings.
And those rumblings come from the camp of LIV defector Brooks Koepka, who is now ranked 78th in the world.
“I’m hearing a lot of rumblings that Brooks Koepka has buyer’s remorse,” Alan Shipnuck said in his latest “Ask Alan” forums where he responds to questions from readers.
Shipnuck also wrote of Koepka:
“The guy has one of the biggest egos in golf, and as the PGA Tour creates ever-increasing buzz with its elevated events and even the state-sanctioned TGL, Koepka has to feel like he’s on the outside looking in.”
Koepka joined LIV mostly because of the state of his frail body, which has suffered a vast array of injuries. Now that Koepka has had a lot of time off, he’s feeling good again and that, most likely, could be the underlying issue if he does indeed have “LIV remorse.”
Mito Periera Heads To LIV:
Not that it’s any sort of loss to the PGA Tour but PGA Championship-choking Mito Periera has joined the LIV Golf ranks.
Periera was in perfect position to win the 2022 PGA but imploded on the 72nd hole and eventually lost in a playoff to Justin Thomas.
He joins Sebastian Munoz as the latest players to leave the PGA Tour.
Rafa Cabrera Bello Leads Thailand Classic:
The DP World Tour is in steamy Thailand and Spain’s Rafa Cabrera Bello is the 36-hole leader at the Thailand Classic.
Bello fashioned a second round 65 to go with his opening 66 and he stands at 13-under at the Amata Springs Country Club outside Bangkok.
Italy’s Fabrizio Zanotti was two shots back of Bello with rounds of 66-67.
Bello is trying to notch his fifth career win on the DP World Tour.
