Immediately after that day-after-Thanksgiving fiasco, aka The Match, aka Brooks vs. Bryson in Las Vegas, aka a total ass-whuppin administered by Brooks, Bryson DeChambeau had the gall to spout: “Hopefully, there will be a rematch, sometime soon.”
Well, Bryson had a golden opportunity to extract some revenge last week in the Bahamas as both he and Brooks were in Tiger’s invitation-only elite field of 20 players for the Hero World Challenge. There was the chance for an immediate rematch of sorts, albeit not head-to-head.
Bryson came out strong with rounds of 69-64 and he was a whopping 11-under par and leading through 36, but only a shot ahead of Brooks (67-67) who was 10-under. Good play by both on Saturday could have set up a face-to-face showdown for the championship.
Alas, Brooks crushed Bryson on Saturday, shooting 69 and clipping the wild-driving DeChambeau by a half-dozen shots. On Sunday, both were in their “we don’t give a hoot” mode and tied with 74s. After 72, once again Brooks got the better of Bryson. He tied for ninth at 11-under par while Bryson found himself tied for 14th at just eight-under.
“There should be no Part II,” Koepka said when asked about a rematch. “I mean, I won the online battle, he can’t trash talk, and I’ve won the golf. So 2-0, it’s tough to come back from.”
Agreed. No rematch, no how, no way.
Let’s let ’em settle the matter in the four majors for 2022.
PNC Holding Its Breath, Waiting On Tiger:
The word out of The Fortress Of Solitude (aka Tiger Woods’ palatial Jupiter mansion) is supposed to be coming this week — word that Tiger and son Charlie will play in next weekend’s PNC Championship at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club in Orlando.
Woods said that after a week of range work during his Hero World Challenge at Albany.
Brandel Chamblee (Golf Channel) says it’s a sure thing that Tiger and Charlie will play. Ditto for another Golf Channel talking head — Tripp Isenhour.
Twenty-Three Gents And A Lady:
Lexi Thompson will once again show up for the QBE Shootout in Naples. She played last year with Tony Finau. This weekend she’ll be paired with Bubba Watson (sorry about that, Lexi).
It’s a 12-team field — a 54-hole event at Tiburon down in Naples, Florida.
More on this in Friday’s edition.

I for one would like to see a rematch between these two but for more stakes then some gaudy bracelet.

Brandel and Tripp are two of the worst tiger predictors around but even they knew tiger would play pnc.
