One guy we would have liked to have seen in this week’s Hero World Challenge is Cameron Champ.
He wasn’t ranked high enough but should have been considered for a sponsor’s exemption.
When you look at what he’s done this fall on the PGA Tour, it’s beyond impressive.
First and foremost, he’s already the longest guy out there. Consider these numbers:
Average driving distance: 328.2 yards.
Swing Speed: 130.2 miles per hour.
Ball Speed: 193.61 miles per hour.
Then consider his overall performance:
Made the cut in all five fall events he played in. Three top 10s including a win at Sanderson Farms. Fourteen of 20 rounds in the 60s.
He’s won just short of $1.3 million, putting him eighth on the current money list.
At the end of 2017 he was ranked 1,057 in the Official World Golf Rankings. Now he’s No. 97.
Take it all in and there’s little doubt he will be one of the most closely-watched players in 2019.
Deservedly so.
