Lexi Thompson needs some “Inspiration.”
She needs it now because she’s been trending down the past two months.
Thompson, who has slipped to ninth in the Rolex World Rankings, is the only American in the top 10 and she’s been struggling a bit as of late.
Thompson’s year started well enough, she was second in the Bahamas at the Pure Silk event to start her season. Well done.
She followed that up with a T4 at the Honda in Thailand. Still trending in the right direction. Since then, she hasn’t scared anyone. She finished tied for 25th at the HSBC in March then missed the cut in Arizona two weeks ago at the Founders Cup. Lexi Thompson isn’t supposed to miss cuts. Too much talent for that.
At last week’s Kia, she tied for 11th.
So coming into the first major of the year this week at the ANA Inspiration, she’s looking to hit the “restart” button on her season. She needs to find that mojo that saw her shoot 61 in the Bahamas.
Thompson won this event in 2014 when it was still the Kraft-Nabisco.
Maybe this is the week that Thompson takes another jump into Poppie’s Pond.
