Friday was deja vu all over again for Robert Castro at the BMW.
He got out early with the rest of the field and once again, shot 65 to get to a stunning 14-under par total after 36-holes at Crooked Stick.
The shocking part is that Castro is not alone.
Dustin Johnson dismantled the course that is no pushover, yet he brought it to its knees with a pair of eagles and five birdies that added up to a nine-under par 63 that put him at the top with Castro.
“Yeah, a good start to the tournament,” is how Castro saw it, “they don’t give out trophies after 36 holes.”
Unlike Thursday, Castro didn’t have a bogey on his card and got off to a good start with some long putts on the front where he shot 31. “It’s hard to shoot a low number on a big-boy golf course without making some long putts.”
Johnson didn’t have to make a putt for his first eagle. He holed out a bunker shot from 45 feet for eagle at nine then holed a 31-foot putt for another eagle at the 15th.
Paul Casey, who had a chance to win last week at the Deutsche Bank but couldn’t come though on Sunday, is back in the hunt again. He shot 66 and was in at 11-under par.
J.B. Holmes continued to make his case for a Ryder Cup spot. He’s at 10-under par after shooting 65.
Ryan Palmer had the second low round to the day to D.J.’s 63. He shot 64 and got himself into a group at seven-under par with Matt Kuchar, Kevin Na and Sergio Garcia.
Jason Day, Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth will all go into the week 10 shots off the lead. Spieth and McIlroy could do no better than even par 72s while Day impoved with a 67.

Castro is on fire! I hope he can close the deal, he has been a chokeaholic several times.

AS he said, no trophies after 36 holes.

While I’m at it, J.B. Holmes and Ryan Moore should be Ryder Cup Captain’s picks. I think Kuch should also be selected.

Both would certainly get my vote if I had one.
