For nine holes, it look like Zach Sucher was ready and willing to take over at The Travelers. Four front nine birdies and the 505th-ranked player in the world was looking like a world-beater.
Then came the turn and Sucher promptly went bogey, double-bogey, double-bogey, falling back to earth with a loud thud.
His collapse paved the way for Chez Reavie. After a ho-hum even par front nine, Reavie started a seven-birdie run on the back nine, starting with four straight then a birdie-birdie finish and a tournament record-tying 28 on the back nine.
Reavie’s 63 was the round of the day and it came in the afternoon when the winds came up. Chez is at 16-under through 54 holes, six shots clear of Sucher and Keegan Bradley.
Jason Day and Roberto Diaz will start the final round seven back at nine-under.
