D.J. finds himself the halfway leader at the WGC-Mexico thanks to rounds of 64-67. His 11-under par total has him two in front of first-round leader Rory McIlroy, who was tied with Matt Kuchar at nine-under.
McIlroy, who could do no wrong on Thursday, had a three-putt from three feet and missed another short one inside three feet during his second round and all he could manage was an one-under par 70. Kuchar’s 67 pulled him to nine-under with McIlroy.
Tiger Woods continued his layup strategy and converted it into a 66 that got him on the first page of the leaderboard. Woods is five-under and tied for eighth.
Friday weather in Mexico City was perfect. The winds that blew on Thursday, subsided for the most part leaving players with birdie opportunities. Tommy Fleetwood took advantage and turned in the day’s best round — a six-under par 65 and found himself tied at seven-under with Sergio Garcia (69-66).
