Let’s face it — when Tiger’s not around, you’d expect the world’s best players to kinda pick up the slack and turn in some exciting golf.
That wasn’t the case Sunday afternoon at The Heritage when Dustin Johnson basically took a huge dump on the back nine at Harbor Town. The world’s No. 1 went from overnight leader to an embarrassing 28th after a final round 77 that featured a nifty little hacker-like 41 on the back nine.
D.J. had quite a run starting at the 11th hole. He fired off three straight bogeys to basically take himself out of the running for the title.
If that wasn’t bad enough, he hit a tee shot at the water-guarded par three 14th that was soooooo bad, it was right of the water, coming to rest, well, who knows where. Johnson would take double-bogey there and just for bad measure, added another one at the par five 15th. At that point it was obvious that D.J. had pretty much thrown in the towel.
Johnson finished with 77, a worthless birdie at the final hole saved him the indignity of a 78. In the end, the world’s No. 1 was beaten by 10 shots on Sunday by the world’s No. 113 and eventual winner — C.T. Pan.
D.J.’s performance or lack-thereof is truly Dog House worthy.
Before coming to the Dog House, one of the Dog House residents was dispatched to clean up after D.J. as shown in the above photo.
So into the Dog House with D.J. — with this caveat — no pooping in the Dog House, D.J. No worries, he already pooped on the back nine at Harbor Town.
