Danny Willett hasn’t done squat since he lucked into the 2016 Masters title.
That theme kept going Sunday at the Maybank Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
After rounds of 66-67-67, Willett found himself with a three-shot lead going into the final 18 holes, it actually looked like he might get his first victory since he donned the Green Jacket last April.
Ah, but alas, it was not to be.
First, Willett completely fell apart with a final found 73.
Second, Fabrizio Zanotti of Paraguay came through like a hero, he eagled the 72nd hole at the Saujana Golf Club for a final round 63 that earned him his second win on the European Tour. “It was probably the best round of my career,” Zanotti admitted afterward.
As for Willett, his post-Masters slump continues.
