Donald Trump is totally pissed off.
So what else is new?
Trump’s latest temper tantrum is directed squarely at LPGA Commissioner Michael Whan and this is an ongoing hulabaloo-type of fallout from Trump’s recent immigration comments.
Golf’s organizations are trying to distance themselves from Trumps rhetoric but travel guru Matt Ginella of the Golf Channel shows that he can be a bit of a reporter as well. Ginella got hold of Trump’s letter to Whan that basically tells him to take the Women’s British Open and go somewhere else.
There’s only one problem. The LPGA DOES NOT run the Women’s British Open. The event is run by the Great Britain Ladies Golf Union. The LPGA merely sanctions it, along with the Ladies European Tour.
So basically what we have here is Trump telling the guy who is NOT the decision maker to take the tournament somewhere else other than Turnberry’s Ailsa course, a Trump property.
The Donald is huffing and puffing at the wrong guy.
What Trump really needs to do is figure out who is REALLY in charge of the event and fire off a letter to them. Only problem is that the Great Britain Ladies Golf Union hasn’t thrown any mud on Trump.
