Swashbuckling Frenchman Victory Dubuisson birdied four of the last five holes Satuday and grabbed the 54-hole lead at the DP World Tour Championship.
For Dubuisson, it was all about timely putting on the Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates. “I’ve played well, made good putts at the right time. I just like the course, it’s long,” Dubuisson said after shooting an eight-under par 64 that spotted him a one-shot lead going into Sunday’s finale.
Chasing him from a shot back will be Matthew Fitzpatrick, Nicolas Colsaerts and Tyrrell Hatton. They are all 12-under with Fitzpatrick and Colsaerts in with 66s and Hatton shooting 67. Fitzpatrick hurt himself with a double-bogey at the par three 13th where he chunked a chip shot and ended up with five.
Round of the day belonged to Rafa Cabrera-Bello. He shot 63 and will go into the last round tied with overnight leader Lee Westwood at 11-under par.
The overall Race To Dubai is down to Swedish stars Alex Noren and Henrik Stenson. Noren is seven-under par and will need to win or finish second while Stenson will have to fall in order for Noren to overtake him. Odds are in Stenson’s favor heading into Sunday.
Rory McIlroy’s 68 got him to five-under but he’s now out of the picture. Even further out of it is Danny Willett. He came apart with a 76 and fell back to over-over par, tied for 51st.
