For Emiliano Grillo, it all started last year at Silverado.
The likeable young man from Argentina captured his first PGA Tour win and opened with a 69 on Thursday in defense of his championship.
He got a nice boost earlier as he was named the PGA Tour’s Rookie Of The Year.
It was a close competition between Grillo, Si Woo Kim and Smylie Kaufman. Kim won the Wyndham and Kaufman played his way to victory in Las Vegas.
But it was Grillo who had the best overall season on his way to winning north of $3.37 million.
He is currently ranked 24th in the world and finished an impressive 11th in last year’s FedEx Cup standings.
