It’s tough to keep a secret.
Evidently the cat’s out of the bag early as to the Captain’s Picks for the European Ryder Cup Team.
Per the ultimate golf insider, former Tampa Times sports writer, Tim Rosaforte, now of Golf Channel fame, Darren Clarke will name Thomas Pieters, Martin Kaymer and Lee Westwood as his three captain’s picks, to be announced Tuesday morning.
Kaymer and Westwood were no surprise, Clarke was looking for some veteran experience to balance out the six rookies who will tee it up for Europe at Hazeltine National.
Pieters, who contended at the Olympics, won the Made In Denmark championship last week on the European Tour and became the first player from Belgium to win three events on that tour.
Pieters will be a first timer in the matches for Europe as will Chris Wood, Andy Sullivan, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Danny Willett and Rafa Cabrera Bello.
In addition to those six rookies, Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia, and Justin Rose will be in there along with Henrik Stenson, who will hopefully be recovered from the knee problems that forced him to withdraw from the Barclays.
American Captain Davis Love III said on Monday that his team will decide the other four players for the U.S. side.
