Justin Leonard and Aaron Baddeley are ghosts of the PGA Tour past.
Baddeley a three-time winner and Leonard, a former winner of the Open Championship have virtually disappeared from the scene.
They re-emerged to share the first round lead Thursday at the rain-delayed OHL Classic in Mexico.
Baddeley, who scored a top-10 finish last week at the Sanderson Farms event, shot 65, as did Leonard. They are tied with Shawn Stefani and Derek Fathauer, a former star at Louisville.
Some of the field at El Camaleon Golf Club did not finish. There was a weather delay that lasted a little more than an hour that left some of the afternoon starters with holes to play. The first round will resume in the morning.
Right behind the leaders is a budding star — Patton Kizzire — who was the leading money winner on the Web.com Tour last year. He’s already scored a runnerup in the fall season and is just a shot back with an opening round of 66. He’s one of four players in at five-under par.
Scoring conditions were ripe for players going low. There were 82 players in the field under par, including some who still have some holes to play.
