Things are coming into better focus up there in Plymouth, Mass., where there was a golf-course brawl at the Southern Marsh Golf Club last week.
Turns out said brawl came as a result of perceived slow play and it came to a head at the final hole where two foursomes joined up to finish the hole en masse as an eightsome which prompted pissed of the group behind them.
Chaos ensued and during said brawl, one golfer had the tip of his index finger bitten off by another.
The man who allegedly bit off the finger is Derek Harkins, age 46, a public employee for the town of Brockton, Mass. Mr. Harkins is a carpenter, his job is to help maintain city structures and he earns a tad north of $83,000 annually for his work. He was arraigned this week in front of Judge James Sullivan in Plymouth District Court and naturally Mr. Harkins pleaded not guilty to charges of Mayhem, Assault and Battery and Disturbing the Peace.
The victim has been identified as 57-year-old Daniel Menton of Marshfield, Mass. Regardless of the outcome of the first trial, he’ll have recourse with a wrongful biting suit, no doubt.
In the meantime, Harkins has been placed on administrative leave by the city, pending outcome of his trial.
Police say Harkins admitted he had two or three beers in an interview with a detective after his arrest. He also boasted about the strength he used to bite the man’s finger, saying, “I could tell it hurt him,” court documents state.
This entire incident shows what can happen when you mix angry people, slow play and too much alchohol.
Dog House time.
Harkins will no be allowed back in the Dog House unless he is fitted with a muzzle.
Tony Romo Looking To Web.com Tour?
Tony Romo shot 77-82 at Punta Cana a short while back, proving he doesn’t have enough game to compete with professionals.
So what’s Romo up to as football season approaches?
He’s entered into a Web..com tour school pre-qualifier that begins today.
Seriously?
Romo has still listed himself as an amateur, even passed on the money he would have received for winning that recently-completed American Century event in Lake Tahoe where all the sports hacks show up. Romo was the best this go-round.
Let’s face it, the guy earns a ton of cash as a CBS football analyst and the season is just about upon us.
Tony Romo on the Web.com Tour?
Won’t happen.
Romo will spend some time in the Dog House — to be determined.
