Upstart Aussie Hannah Green has had things her way after two days at the Women’s PGA Championship and she heads into the weekend with a three-shot lead.
Green followed up her rainy 68 with a 69 on Friday at Hazeltine and is the only player in the field to break 70 the first two rounds. She goes into Saturday’s third round with a three shot lead over former world’s No. 1 Ariya Jutanugarn and she’s four in front of Lydia Ko and defending champion Sung Hyun Park.
Americans Nellie Korda and Angel Yin are just five back at two-under. Lexi Thompson’s 71 got her to one-under after 36.
Michelle Wie’s day wasn’t as bad as it was on Thursday. An afternoon tee time provided dry weather and higher temperatures but she still struggled with her game. She bogeyed four of the last five holes, shot 82 and after rounds of 84-82, will have time to contemplate what’s next for her — more rest or more practice.
