One of the great pleasures in life is to meet Gary Player and spend a few minutes in conversation with him.
You won’t find a nicer gentleman, you won’t find a more positive guy, you won’t find anyone with more enthusiasm for life and the game of golf.
Gary Player is also one of the living members of that elite fraternity of golfers who have won the career grand slam.
Only five men in the HISTORY of golf have won the professional career Grand Slam — Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Mr. Player.
Only three are still alive — Nicklaus, Woods and Mr. Player.
Today, Gary Player, aka “Laddie” celebrates his 81st birthday.
If you challenged him, he could probably rip out 81 pushups for you, he does hundred of situps every day.
He was Mr. Fitness before anyone on the PGA Tour knew what fitness was.
He is the Jack Lalanne of golf.
He is one of the original “Big Three” along with Nicklaus and the late Arnold Palmer.
Gary won the Masters three times, the Open Championship three times, the PGA twice and won the U.S. Open once.
He’s still full of life and enthusiasm for everything he touches.
So Happy 81st Gary Player.
You will probably out-live us all.
